10/6 Cadiz

Sunday…

Sunday. We definitely made it a rest day! We woke up in beautiful Cadiz, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe. The city was said to have been founded around 1100 B.C. by the Phoenicians. And jumping ahead in history, it was between 1493 and 1502, that Christopher Columbus sailed from Cadiz on his second and fourth voyages. It is a city rich in history, which we intend to explore more of tomorrow. We are staying within walking distance of Old Town Cadiz, and it was easy to identify the city as a coastal city when we awoke this morning to the sounds of seagulls! We are looking forward to exploring a city that dates back as far as the Biblical times of Saul and King David!

Today is an important day for us as well because it is the birthday of our youngest daughter, Clara Grace. Clara is smart, talented, funny, beautiful, and compassionate. She cares deeply about many causes, and many people, and we are very proud of her and all that she has done, is doing, and will do! To have Clara in your corner is a gift. So…happy birthday, Clara Grace! We love you!! Buen Camino for this next trip around the sun!

Good night and Buen Camino!
